Park and Recreation Commission
About the PRC
The Park and Recreation Commission (PRC) is an advisory board that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and staff on recreation programming, budget, land acquisition and long-range planning.
Members must be residents of Mecklenburg County and are are appointed by the BOCC for three-year terms with no one serving more than two consecutive terms.
The PRC has six advisory councils specializing in specific park and recreation topics that meet monthly. Advisory Councils include:
- Central Park Region Advisory Council
- Greenways/Trails Advisory Council
- North Park Region Advisory Council
- Senior Citizens Advisory Council
- South Park Region Advisory Council
- Stewardship Advisory Council
