Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Honors Veterans With Annual Golf Tournament

Several people stand in front of a clubhouse with a large American flag spread across the ground during the annual veterans golf tournament at the Tradition Golf Course in Charlotte.

For the 19th year, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation hosted veterans for a day of golf and fellowship. The department’s annual Veterans Golf Tournament was held Oct. 3, 2025, at the Tradition Golf Club in north Charlotte.

This year’s tournament treated 144 veterans to a day of Captain’s golf, breakfast, lunch, and more than $7,000 in gifts and prizes. The event was funded entirely by sponsor donations.

Park and Recreation program supervisor Steven Elliot helped organize the event.

“We wanted to make sure we did something that honored these veterans who served our country,” Elliot said. “We wanted to make sure it was special for these guys and that this was a memorable event for them.”
